Format the output of a PDF

Format the output of your PDF by customizing font, text size, color, and alignment settings. In this article we’ll show you how to customize text style settings at both the document and individual field levels.

Text styling options control what the output information on your document will look like. The options are the same for both document templates and Workflows.

Document level styling

Document level styling allows you to quickly apply uniform styling across your entire document.

To apply document level styling:

  1. Navigate to your document template or Workflow editor
    • Click on the PDF tab if you’re using a Workflow
  2. Make your adjustments in the PDF editor panel to the right of your document preview

Note: Anvil supports all Google fonts. To use a font that isn’t available through the dropdown picker, use the advanced JSON editor*.

* This option is only available on custom plans.

Field level styling

Any adjustments you set at the individual field level will supersede the document level formatting. This is especially helpful if you have specific fields that need different styling for more emphasis.

To apply individual field level styling:

  1. Navigate to your document template or Workflow editor
    • Click on the PDF tab if you’re using a Workflow
  2. Select the field(s) you wish to edit
  3. Make your adjustments in the PDF editor panel to the right of your document preview

Note: You can select multiple fields at once to apply changes in bulk by using the multi select tool.
